Despite a sharp global sell-off in semiconductor stocks in July, fueled by worries over AI-related profits, Chinese fund managers kept artificial intelligence and chips as their top investment picks in August. Still, more investors moved to protect themselves against further tech losses, according to a survey by BofA Global Research.
The findings come from the August edition of the Asia Fund Manager Survey. Bank of America researchers polled 98 participants across the region from August 7 to 13. The respondents included fund managers, strategists, and analysts overseeing regional portfolios.
While the July drop hit global chipmakers hard, the survey shows that Chinese investors remain confident in the long-term potential of AI and semiconductor companies. However, the rising use of hedging tools suggests that some are bracing for more volatility ahead.
