A major overnight attack using more than 450 drones and 30 missiles struck Ukraine's southern energy infrastructure.
The assault, which lasted into December 13, caused widespread power outages. Officials report thousands of residents are now without electricity across seven regions, known as oblasts.
The attack appears focused on crippling the energy grid. Drones, also called unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), made up the vast majority of the weapons used in the coordinated strike.
This incident marks one of the largest drone attacks reported since the conflict began. Repair crews are now assessing the extensive damage to restore power to affected areas.
