US-Iran Conflict Risks Spiraling Into Endless War

The United States and Iran may be trapped in a cycle of fighting that neither side can win, according to a new analysis. Becca Wasser, Bloomberg Economics’ Defense Lead, says shifting US goals and the lack of a clear military victory for either side make a lasting resolution unlikely. Speaking on *Bloomberg This Weekend* with hosts Joe Mathieu and Carol Massar, Wasser warned that repeated pauses in fighting could allow both nations to regroup and rearm. This, she said, could widen the conflict beyond its current borders. Wasser added that a durable settlement would likely require direct talks between Washington and Tehran. Without such negotiations, the risk of a protracted war remains high.
