Turkey’s Parliament Speaker, Numan Kurtulmuş, has called for a new era of integration, stating that the goal must be a society where no Kurdish young person would ever consider going to the mountains—a phrase commonly used to refer to joining militant groups.
Speaking after a new regulation was approved in Parliament, Kurtulmuş said the “old language” of conflict must be abandoned. According to him, the new period should be defined by a “language of peace and brotherhood” rather than hostility and opposition.
