Lula’s Lead Over Bolsonaro’s Son Shrinks to 8.9 Points in New Poll

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva still leads Senator Flávio Bolsonaro in a potential runoff, but his advantage is narrowing.
According to the CNT/MDA poll released on Tuesday, Lula takes 48% of voting intentions against 39.1% for Bolsonaro’s son. That gives Lula an 8.9-point lead.
In the previous survey, from June, the gap was wider. Lula then led by 12.5 points.
The new numbers suggest the race is tightening ahead of a possible second-round vote. Flávio Bolsonaro is a senator and the son of former President Jair Bolsonaro.
The poll was conducted by CNT/MDA, a major Brazilian research firm. No margin of error was provided in the summary.
