Iran’s foreign minister has warned Washington to “be careful” after President Donald Trump said the US has full control of the Strait of Hormuz.
Abbas Araghchi responded on X, the social media platform, writing: “Worse than fake news is fake intelligence.”
He added that the US has “long miscalculated due to intelligence failures,” pointing to the war on Iran as an example.
The Strait of Hormuz is a narrow waterway between Iran and Oman. About one-fifth of the world’s oil passes through it, making it a critical route for global energy supplies.
Trump’s claim of full control came amid ongoing tensions between Washington and Tehran over shipping and regional security.
Araghchi’s remarks suggest Tehran rejects the US assertion and warns of further friction. The exchange highlights the fragile state of relations, with both sides trading statements that raise the risk of miscalculation.
