German officials summoned Russia's ambassador to Berlin on Friday. The move came after Germany accused Russian-linked groups of serious security breaches.
The government alleges these groups hacked into Germany's air traffic control system. It also says they are running operations to influence the country's 2024 general election.
Berlin labels these activities "hybrid attacks." This term also includes recent suspicious drone flights near European airports.
In response, Germany says it is planning coordinated countermeasures with its European Union partners. The goal is to defend against these combined physical and cyber threats.
