The group argues that the current party leadership has failed. This call for change comes as the SPD struggles with internal divisions and falling public support. A special party conference, known as a “Sonderparteitag,” would allow delegates to vote on replacing the top officials. The proposal is the first major public challenge to the current leadership from within the party’s own ranks. No date has been set for such a meeting, and the party’s executive board has not yet responded.
