Poland to send more Patriots to Ukraine after Russian missile crosses border

Poland says it will consider sending additional Patriot missile systems to Ukraine, following a Russian cruise missile that flew almost 100 kilometers into Polish territory. The pledge came after a Russian Kh-101 missile crossed into Poland during Moscow’s latest mass attack on Ukraine, according to Polish officials. The missile entered Polish airspace before crashing, prompting Warsaw to review its military support. “There is no sky that is 100% safe,” a Polish official said, stressing the need for stronger air defenses near the border. The Patriot system is a US-made surface-to-air missile launcher designed to intercept incoming rockets and aircraft. Poland already operates several of these systems and has previously supplied Ukraine with military aid. The incident marks one of the deepest incursions by a Russian missile into NATO territory since the start of the war. Poland, a NATO member, has not reported any casualties from the crash. Warsaw said it is now assessing how many additional Patriots it can spare without weakening its own defense. No timeline for the delivery has been announced.
