The United States on Thursday imposed sanctions on two China-based companies and a Chinese executive. Washington accuses them of supporting Iran’s Mahan Air, which it calls the “airline of choice” for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The U.S. says the airline transports weapons, military personnel, and equipment for the IRGC.
The action is the second consecutive day the U.S. has targeted companies linked to mainland China or Hong Kong for supporting Tehran. This move expands Washington’s latest pressure campaign beyond Iranian oil.
