AI Boom to Keep Hong Kong Exports Surging, GDP May Beat Forecasts
Hong Kong’s export boom is set to continue for months, powered by global demand for artificial intelligence (AI), economists say. The surge could push the city’s economic growth above official predictions. Billy Mak Sui-choi, an associate professor at Baptist University’s accountancy, economics and finance department, told the South China Morning Post that demand for AI is far from saturated. “No single country has yet been able to…” he said, indicating that the market still has room to expand. The upbeat outlook suggests Hong Kong’s GDP may rise faster than previously expected, as AI-related exports remain a key driver.
