US and Saudi Jets Strike Iran-Backed Targets in Iraq

The United States and Saudi Arabia carried out precision airstrikes in Iraq on Tuesday, targeting groups backed by Iran, according to the U.S. military command for the Middle East, CENTCOM. CENTCOM stated on social media that the groups were ordered by Iran's Revolutionary Guard to attack American military sites and Saudi infrastructure. Multiple fatalities have been reported following the strikes. American and Saudi fighter jets hit several logistics and weapons facilities belonging to the militants across eastern Iraq. The operation was a response to drone attacks launched by the Revolutionary Guard over the previous 72 hours. In addition to the airstrikes, Iran has attacked and halted three oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran also struck a U.S. base in Jordan. Saudi Arabia's Defense Ministry reported Tuesday evening that it had intercepted several drones fired at one of its oil facilities. The ministry blamed Iran-backed groups in Iraq for the attack.
