Half of Brazil’s US exports face new tariffs
A new study shows that nearly half of all Brazilian goods shipped to the United States will soon face extra taxes. The National Confederation of Industry (CNI), Brazil’s main industrial employers’ group, released the report on Thursday. It says 48.7% of Brazilian exports to the US will be hit by a new 12.5% tariff linked to forced-labor rules. The levy applies to 4,060 different Brazilian products. The measure aims to block goods made with forced labor, but Brazilian industry warns it could hurt trade. The CNI study did not estimate the total financial impact.
