CHP Loses Main Opposition Status, Falls to Fifth in Parliament
Turkey’s main opposition party, the CHP, has lost its position as the largest opposition group in parliament. After Özgür Özel and 90 lawmakers resigned, the CHP’s seat count dropped to 44. The new main opposition party is the YENİ Party, led by Özel himself. The CHP now ranks fifth in the assembly.
