Maine Democrats Tap Troy Jackson to Replace Scandal-Hit Candidate in Key Senate Race
Maine Democrats chose a new candidate for a crucial U.S. Senate race on Saturday, after their original nominee dropped out amid sexual misconduct allegations. Delegates at an emergency nominating convention selected Troy Jackson, a former state senate president, to challenge Republican incumbent Susan Collins. “Thank you, Maine. In 101 days, we will defeat Susan Collins and reclaim our Senate seat. Let’s get to work,” Jackson wrote on social media. The move comes as Democrats aim to flip the seat in a closely watched election.
