Gaza Ceasefire Fails to End 'Structural Emergency,' Aid Group Warns

Nine months into a ceasefire, conditions in Gaza remain "incredibly dire," according to the Norwegian Refugee Council. Shaina Low, a communications advisor for the group’s Palestine mission, says the situation should have improved by now. While large-scale hostilities have stopped, Low argues that Gaza is trapped in a "structural emergency." She explains that humanitarian workers cannot move beyond short-term relief due to heavy restrictions on aid, construction materials, fuel, and operational access. "The central issue is no longer simply the scale of destruction," Low states. "It is the inability to reverse it, despite the existence of a ceasefire."
