Alibaba Group’s mapping unit, Amap, has launched an upgraded technology framework that combines a robot’s “feet, hands, brains, central nerves and motor nerves” into a single system. Called ABot, it is billed as the world’s first five-in-one AI framework for robots.
The system is the latest step in a race among Chinese tech companies to use artificial intelligence models to make robots more capable. This field, known as “embodied intelligence,” aims to give machines the “brains” and other parts needed to move through and complete tasks in the physical world.
