Rwanda-Backed Fighters Claim Key City, 200,000 Flee

Fighters backed by Rwanda say they have seized the strategic city of Uvira in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. The Congolese government has not confirmed it lost control of the city. The situation around Uvira is deteriorating rapidly. The United Nations reports that 200,000 people have fled their homes in just the past five days. The conflict involves the M23 rebel group, which is supported by Rwanda according to UN experts. The DRC government accuses Rwanda of direct aggression, a claim Rwanda denies.
