Syria's Agriculture Minister met with a senior UN official on Thursday to strengthen their partnership. The focus is on a new plan to protect the country's farm animals from deadly disease outbreaks.
Minister Amjad Badr and the acting head of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Syria, Pirro Tomaso Perri, held talks in Damascus. They worked to set shared priorities for the coming period.
The plan will align with the Syrian agriculture ministry's own strategy. A key goal is preventing epidemics among livestock, which are vital for food and income.
The FAO provides ongoing support to Syria's agricultural sector. This meeting aimed to direct that cooperation toward the most urgent needs.
