Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Wednesday the United States would carry out attacks on Iran’s key infrastructure “any time” Iranian forces fire on ships in the Strait of Hormuz. The warning follows repeated threats from Tehran over the vital oil shipping route. Rubio did not specify the exact targets but made clear the U.S. response would be immediate and severe. The Strait of Hormuz is a narrow waterway between Iran and Oman through which about 20% of the world’s oil passes. Any disruption there could raise global energy prices.
