Belugas moved from Marineland to Toronto airport in secret overnight operation

In a carefully coordinated rescue mission, the first beluga whales were moved from Marineland in Niagara Falls, Ont., to Toronto's airport on July 20, 2026. Aerial drone images show the operation in detail. Workers wearing helmets crowded around a shallow pool containing the whales. A flatbed truck with a large blue box and a crane stood nearby. The transport process required the whales to be lifted from their pool, placed into a specially designed container, and then loaded onto the truck. The container was then driven to the airport for the next leg of the journey. The operation marks a significant step in the relocation of the marine mammals. Officials have not yet announced the final destination for the belugas.
