Russia Strikes Kyiv and Kharkiv: 4 Dead in Major Offensive

Russia launched one of its largest attacks on Kyiv and struck the city of Kharkiv, killing at least four people and wounding dozens more. The offensive is Moscow’s response to Ukraine’s strike on Saturday against two e-commerce warehouses in Russia. In Kharkiv, three people died and about 20 were injured when a missile hit a postal terminal in a suburb, said regional military chief Ole Siniehubov. Three of the wounded are in critical condition. The attack on Kyiv killed one person and injured 16 others. Mayor Vitali Klitschko said more than 40 missiles and 120 drones hit the capital, damaging residential buildings and starting fires. Targets included factories making missile and drone components, and a logistics center. Ukraine struck two Russian logistics centers on Saturday, killing at least eight people. President Volodymyr Zelensky said those sites were used for military purposes. It was Ukraine’s largest attack on the Moscow region since the war began in February 2022. Russia claims the Ukrainian warehouses stored dual-use goods, including parts for long-range drones. Zelensky expressed solidarity with the victims and said the priority is improving protection against ballistic missiles by acquiring interception systems. Russia has been attacking Ukraine with missiles and drones almost daily for four years, while Ukraine has stepped up its own drone strikes.
