First Nations leaders in Alberta are reviving a successful get-out-the-vote campaign to counter the separatist movement in the province's upcoming referendum. The effort, called "Rock the Vote," aims to drive record turnout among on-reserve voters in October.
Grand Chief Trevor Mercredi of Treaty 8 First Nations said the goal is to mobilize Indigenous communities against separatism. The original 2015 campaign significantly increased voter participation on reserves. Now, leaders hope to replicate that success to influence the provincial vote.
