Roblox lets kids build games by just describing the vibe

Roblox is letting young users create video games simply by typing what they want. On Thursday, the gaming platform announced Build, an AI-powered tool inside its mobile app. A user can write something like "a cozy adventure game in a dense forest," and the AI will generate a basic, playable version of that game. The tool pushes "vibe coding" — describing software in plain language while AI writes the code — deeper into gaming. Similar tools exist from Google and Microsoft. But for Roblox, Build removes the need for expensive game releases or learning complex software. Since 2006, Roblox has hosted millions of user-made games built in its desktop software, Roblox Studio. Build brings a simplified version of that process directly into the phone app millions already use to play. Testing begins in New Zealand on July 28. The feature will first be available to users aged 9 and older who pass age verification. Published games made with Build will be visible to users aged 16 and older. A basic version is free, with paid options offering more advanced features.
