A prominent opposition figure has accused Turkey’s ruling party of using the courts to weaken the main opposition. Özgür Çelik, speaking from Silivri prison, said the government is hiding behind the judiciary to redesign the Republican People's Party (CHP).
“Those who carried out the March 19 coup arrested mayors, but could not stop the CHP’s march,” Çelik stated. “Now they have moved to a new phase.” He claimed that the ruling AKP is trying to design the CHP from behind the scenes, using legal action as a shield.
