Historic England has added unusual sites to its protected list for 2025. The new listings include World War II defenses and a whimsical "elf garden."
In a Surrey woodland, concrete pyramids called "dragon’s teeth" are now protected. These were anti-tank obstacles built in the 1940s to stop a potential Nazi invasion.
Other new entries include a model boat club boathouse in Birmingham. A so-called "elf garden" in north-west England, a private garden filled with miniature buildings, is also listed.
The list protects remarkable historic places across England. Legal protection means they cannot be altered or demolished without special permission.
