Liberia’s national police force has made a clear promise ahead of a major protest planned for Friday. The Liberia National Police (LNP) says it will protect the right to peaceful assembly for the group known as STAND—short for Solidarity and Trust for a New Day. At the same time, the police issued a stern warning: anyone who uses the protest as a cover for violence, destroying property, or other crimes will face prosecution. The demonstration is scheduled for July 17, 2026. The LNP’s statement aims to balance constitutional rights with public order.
