The United States has deported dozens of Russian asylum seekers back to Moscow, where they were swiftly drafted into the military, according to reports.
U.S. officials expelled 64 Russian men from a detention center in Arizona. This occurred during increased political cooperation between Washington and Moscow and rising anti-immigration feelings in America.
Upon landing in Russia, the men were almost immediately given official papers summoning them for military service. They are now expected to be sent to the front lines in Ukraine.
The situation highlights a dangerous consequence for migrants whose U.S. asylum claims fail. They are returned directly into a wartime draft.
