Iran’s Armed Forces announced that any US attempt to intervene in the Strait of Hormuz threatens regional security and maritime trade. Tehran stated it will not permit such action. The statement comes in response to threats from US President Donald Trump regarding the strategic waterway. The Strait of Hormuz is a narrow passage between Iran and Oman, through which about one-fifth of the world’s oil supply passes.
