A 69-year-old man has confessed to strangling a pregnant woman nearly three decades ago, closing a long-unsolved case.
Gregory Fleetwood pleaded guilty to manslaughter on Wednesday for the 1996 killing of Jasmine Porter, who was 36 years old and expecting a child at the time of her death.
The guilty plea means the case will not go to trial. Fleetwood is expected to receive a 12-year prison sentence.
Porter's death had remained a cold case for 28 years. Authorities have not yet revealed the new evidence or circumstances that led them to Fleetwood and his confession.
