The pattern is now familiar. An Iranian drone strikes a ship passing through the Strait of Hormuz without Tehran’s permission. The United States responds with air strikes on targets along the Iranian coast. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps then retaliates with missiles and drones against U.S. allies in the Gulf, claiming it is targeting American military positions.
This cycle of attack and counterattack has created a stalemate. Neither side has gained a clear advantage, and the conflict shows no sign of ending. The key question is which side will change its strategy first.
For now, the situation remains tense. Ships continue to move through the strait, a vital waterway for global oil supplies, but under constant threat. Diplomacy has not produced a breakthrough. Until one side decides to back down, the standoff is likely to continue.
