Sen. Lindsey Graham, a top ally of President Donald Trump and a leading voice for a stronger U.S. foreign policy, has died at age 71. His office confirmed the death was caused by a “brief and sudden illness.”
“It was quite a shock,” a spokesperson said.
Graham, a Republican from South Carolina, was known for his close relationship with Trump and his frequent travel abroad to push for a more aggressive American role on the world stage. He served in the Senate since 2003.
