Count Binface: The bin on a head that could end Farage’s career

Nigel Farage expected an easy victory when he forced a byelection. Now, his political future is under threat from a candidate with a silver bin on his head.
As votes were counted in the Makerfield constituency, media waited for Andy Burnham to be elected MP. But one candidate was distracted. Nick the Flying Brick, a frequent contender for the Monster Raving Loony party, could not understand how the man with a bin on his head had secured the 10 local nominations needed to stand.
The Flying Brick—real name Nick Delves, 60 and the Loony party’s treasurer—had worked hard knocking on doors to get nominations for his own candidate, Howling Laud Hope. But he had seen no one with a bin on their head. Not in recent days. Not a single one.
The candidate in question is Count Binface. He does not use his real name. “He goes a bit funny if you use his real name,” said Delves.
Farage, who forced the byelection in Clacton, now risks seeing his campaign derailed by the rise of this unusual opponent.
