The leader of Turkey’s main opposition party has openly discussed the possibility of founding a new political group. Özgür Özel made the statement during a live television broadcast.
This comes after Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who became the party chairman by court order, entered the party’s Istanbul headquarters with police assistance. He had previously done the same at the central office.
Speaking on air, Özel said: “Where patience overflows, we will establish a new party and become the first party again.” The remark signals growing internal tensions within the opposition.
