BEIJING – China on Friday accused the United States of violating a recent agreement between President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping, after Washington blacklisted over 60 Chinese companies.
Beijing said the U.S. is misusing its national power by targeting Chinese firms. The accusation follows the Pentagon’s early June decision to add dozens of companies—including tech giants Alibaba, Baidu, and electric car maker BYD—to a list of “Chinese military companies operating in the United States.”
China argued that the blacklist “disregarded the consensus” reached between Trump and Xi during their meeting in Beijing in May. Days after the U.S. move, China announced new export controls against leading American firms.
