At least 12 people have died and 23 remain missing after a wildfire tore through southern Spain’s Almeria region. Authorities say the blaze likely started when a power line fell onto dry vegetation. It is Spain’s deadliest wildfire in two decades.
Firefighters are still battling the flames. The fire comes as Europe faces an early and intense fire season. Spain now accounts for about 40% of all land burned across the continent.
