Fuel storage facilities are burning from southern Russia to the capital, Moscow, as the country’s anti-drone defenses continue to fail. Over the past 24 hours, Russia reported shooting down hundreds of Ukrainian drones, but the attacks still hit key fuel depots in Krasnodar Krai, Rostov Oblast, Moscow, and Tatarstan.
The repeated strikes suggest that Russia’s net-based and electronic countermeasures are not stopping the drones. Each hit on a fuel tank risks disrupting military supply lines and increasing domestic pressure. Officials have not released details on the extent of the damage or how long repairs will take.
The pattern of attacks shows that Ukraine is targeting fuel infrastructure deep inside Russian territory, far from the front lines. As long as the anti-drone nets remain ineffective, more fires are likely.
