Hong Kong’s aviation regulator has ordered Cathay Pacific Airways to conduct a full review after one of its passenger flights was intercepted by Nato fighter jets. The incident occurred last week when a London-bound plane temporarily lost contact with air traffic controllers over Romanian airspace.
The Civil Aviation Department (CAD) expressed serious concern for a second day on Thursday. It also outlined the specific areas the airline must examine in its review.
Preliminary details suggest the flight’s communication failure prompted the military interception. The regulator has not yet released a full timeline of events.
