Ebola Outbreak in DR Congo Now Outpacing Response, Africa CDC Warns
The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) has reported progress in the fight against Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo), but issued a stark warning: the outbreak is now outpacing the response. According to Africa CDC official Mr. Mankoula, laboratory capacity has improved significantly. Health authorities can now conduct more than 2,000 Ebola tests daily across affected areas. This increase in testing allows for faster diagnosis and isolation of cases. Despite this progress, the agency warns that the number of new infections is rising faster than health teams can contain them. The situation remains critical, and experts say immediate action is needed to prevent the outbreak from spreading further.
