Turkey’s Constitutional Court found a rights violation in the case of Hacı Lokman Birlik, a man whose death in police custody sparked years of legal battles. The ruling came 10 years and 9 months after the initial complaint.
Birlik’s brother, Mehmet Birlik, said the decision focused on his brother being dragged on the ground by police. “Although the ruling is not exactly what we wanted, we view it positively,” he stated.
The court did not specify new penalties or further legal steps in its decision.
