Ukraine aims to sign drone deals with seven Nato countries by year-end
Ukraine hopes to finalize major defense agreements with at least seven Nato countries by the end of the year, a senior official said. The move marks a shift in Kyiv’s role from a recipient of military aid to a provider of technology and expertise. In recent months, Ukraine has signed “drone deals” with six nations. Three are Middle Eastern states that sought Ukrainian support after being attacked by Iranian long-range Shahed drones, the same weapons that have struck Ukrainian cities for years. Azerbaijan, as well as Nato members Latvia and Lithuania, have also signed agreements. Under these deals, Ukraine offers its knowledge in developing radar systems and ground stations. The agreements highlight a new aspect of Kyiv’s foreign policy, showing it can contribute to global security while still receiving military hardware.
