Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump spoke by phone on Saturday, discussing the war in Ukraine and the upcoming NATO summit in Turkey. The call lasted 85 minutes, according to Kremlin foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov.
Putin congratulated Trump on the 250th anniversary of US independence during the conversation. Ushakov said in an audio message to reporters that the two leaders “naturally touched on the topic of a Ukrainian settlement.”
The discussion also covered Trump’s planned participation in the NATO summit in Turkey, which is set to begin in July. No further details on the talks were immediately released.
