Hong Kong restaurants spend HK$10,000 to welcome dogs as pet-friendly dining launches this week

Pet strollers, partitions, and pre-dining briefings for customers are among the measures Hong Kong restaurants are taking ahead of a new scheme allowing dogs into eateries starting Thursday.
Dim sum restaurant Old Fung Tea House, which has six outlets across the city, is one of 833 eateries that will permit dogs to enter under a policy by the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department. The scheme aims to develop the pet economy.
Owner Fung Man-kit said he invested about HK$10,000 to prepare his restaurants for furry diners.
