Deadly Fire in Southern China Kills 12
A late-night fire in southern China has killed at least 12 people. The blaze is the first major residential fire in mainland China since a deadly incident in Hong Kong last month. The fire broke out on Tuesday evening in a four-story building in Shantou city. Firefighters extinguished the flames about 40 minutes later. Local authorities said the building was made of reinforced concrete. The fire affected approximately 150 square meters of the structure. An investigation into the cause is ongoing.
