The co-chair of Turkey’s DEM Party, Tuncer Bakırhan, has issued a stark warning: the government must not delay a new legal framework for the peace process. He insists the law must come to parliament immediately, not be postponed until autumn.
Bakırhan argued that without a solid legal foundation, trust cannot be built. “If there is no law, there is no trust. If there is no trust, there is no return,” he stated.
His comments come amid the ongoing “Peace and Democratic Society Process,” which aims to transform the current situation into lasting peace. Bakırhan stressed that delaying the “framework law” would endanger the entire process.
