A new report from the DİSK-AR research center reveals that Turkey’s broad unemployment rate has surged to 31%, meaning over 12.6 million people are without work. While the official, narrow unemployment figure stands at 8.2% for May 2026, the broader measure includes discouraged workers and those not actively seeking jobs. The situation is even more severe for women, with their broad unemployment rate reaching 40.8%.
