The head of Turkey's main opposition party has pledged to resist what he calls an "occupation" of his party, warning he will not leave the nation without alternatives.
Özgür Özel, the parliamentary group leader for the Republican People's Party (CHP), said his party will continue its fight against attempts to declare its activities "absolutely void," a legal term meaning invalid from the start. "If this occupation does not end, we will not leave this nation without options," Özel stated.
He also condemned recent arrests made ahead of the NATO summit. Özel gave particular attention to the cases of Rojin Kabaiş and Gülistan Doku, two individuals whose legal files he highlighted during his remarks.
