The record-breaking heatwave that has scorched much of Europe is now moving eastward. On Monday, Slovakia recorded new all-time temperature highs. On Tuesday, temperatures in Hungary’s capital, Budapest, are expected to reach around 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit). Authorities in Hungary, Poland, and Romania have issued red warnings. People across Eastern Europe are being urged to stay indoors during the hottest hours of the day.
