Microsoft has announced its largest-ever investment in Asia, pledging $17.5 billion to boost artificial intelligence (AI) in India.
The commitment was confirmed by CEO Satya Nadella after a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The funds will focus on building AI infrastructure, including new data centers, and developing local AI skills.
This massive investment highlights India's growing importance as a major technology market. It also signals a global race among tech firms to secure influence in key regions for AI development.
Separately, Microsoft also plans to invest over $5 billion in Canada. The company is making large-scale investments worldwide to expand its cloud and AI capabilities.
