Russian missiles and drones killed at least 11 civilians and wounded 40 others in Ukraine on Monday. President Volodymyr Zelensky called the attacks “horrific.”
The strikes hit as Ukraine’s energy grid struggled under a severe heatwave. Temperatures exceeded 36 degrees Celsius across much of Europe.
Since Russia’s invasion in February 2022, drone and missile attacks have severely damaged Ukraine’s energy network. The damage has cost tens of billions of dollars.
